After watching his resilient Arsenal team win 1-0 at rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to move to within four points of leaders Chelsea - with a game in hand - Arsene Wenger has claimed that the Gunners are now back in the title race.

Arsenal travel to Chelsea on Saturday in Wenger's 1,000th match in charge of Arsenal, and with nine matches remaining, Wenger says that the climax of the season will now be "interesting" after Chelsea's 1-0 loss at Aston Villa last weekend, in addition to fellow title contenders Manchester City and Liverpool both winning.

"We wanted to get back in the race and the defeat of Chelsea, the win of Liverpool and of Man City away makes the final sprint very interesting," Wenger told Arsenal.com.

"[The win at White Hart Lane] puts us back in a good position. It's not in our hands because even if we win our game in hand we are still a point behind but if we continue to win our games that will of course be very important. Then it is in our hands. Then's it's just focus, recover, focus and try to win the next game."

Arsenal won the derby thanks to Tomas Rosicky's second-minute rocket of a strike, one that Wenger said deserved to be in his "collection of great goals" during his time as Gunners manager.

"It will go in my collection of great goals. I told Tomas that because first of all he's not a typical goalscorer and he surprised everybody. He had not even time to realise what he was doing and it was in the back of the net. It was an unbelievable goal."
