Arsene Wenger says 'remarkable' Steve Bruce or 'exceptional' Tony Pulis should be the manager of the season
Wenger faces Bruce's Hull at the KC Stadium on Sunday
Ahead of this weekend's FA Cup dress rehearsal, Arsene Wenger has paid tribute to his opposite number Steve Bruce, stating that either he or Crystal Palace's Tony Pulis should be manager of the season.
Bruce's Hull currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League, and face the Gunners at Wembley in the FA Cup final on 17 May, but the teams met first at the KC Stadium on Sunday.
Pulis' Palace, meanwhile, have exceeded all expectations in 11th place, and did Wenger's side a favour in their quest for fourth place last night by defeating Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park.
"Steve Bruce and Tony Pulis have done exceptional work, that is for sure. I believe the real job of a manager is to take the best out of the potential of the team." Wenger replied when asked about who should be manager of the season.
"The easiest way is always to choose the guy who wins the league [for manager of the year], but it's not always him who has done the best job."
"Hull have had a remarkable season and they have done well at home," he said. "Steve Bruce has done extremely well. He's one of the remarkable managers of the season because they are safe and Hull have reached the FA Cup final. It's remarkable what he has achieved."
