Bacary Sagna: Arsenal re-open contract talks with right-back and close in on new deals for Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky

Manager Arsene Wenger had said the club would 'push very hard' to keep defender

Arsenal have reportedly re-opened talks over a contract extension for Bacary Sagna, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, and are also close to announcing new deals for Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky.

The 30-year-old defender will become only third French player to make 200 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, after Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, if he plays against Liverpool on Saturday and has interested Galatasaray, Paris-Saint German and Monaco, who would offer the right-back a longer contact than what has been offered by the Premier League leaders.

Sagna has reportedly rejected a two-year contract from the Gunners on the same £70,000 per week he already earns, but manager Arsene Wenger - whose contract also expires in the summer - has previously claimed the club will "push very hard" to keep him so the club have re-entered negotiations.

Per Mertesacker, the stand-in Gunners captain, meanwhile, is closer to agreeing a new deal. His contract expires in the summer of 2015, but Arsenal are keen to reward him for his fine form this season.

Tomas Rosicky, currently the fourth longest serving player at the club after Nicklas Bendtner, Abou Diaby and Theo Walcott, is also close to agreeing a one-year contract extension to his deal which runs out in the summer.
