Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is to meet Anfield bosses over the next 36 hours for a season review, with odds on him being sacked drastically shortening.

Chairman Tom Werner is understood to have arrived in Liverpool and will hold talks with Rodgers today or tomorrow. Director Mike Gordon will also be in attendance, however it's understood that principal owner John W Henry will not.

The club have tried to play down suggestions that Rodgers will be sacked, however a surge in betting on Rodgers to go saw the odds of him being dismissed drastically shorten yesterday.

Rodgers admitted after the 6-1 final-day-of-the-season defeat to Stoke City: "I've always said if the owners want me to go, then I go."

The shocking result against Stoke compounded a poor season that saw the club finish sixth in the table, fail to escape the Champions League group phase and go out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage against Aston Villa.

Rodgers is currently a year in to a four-year contract he was rewarded after nearly taking Liverpool to the title last season.

A banner appeared over Anfield towards the end of the season reading 'In Rodgers we trust'

One of the favourites to replace him should a change be made, Jurgen Klopp, seemingly fell out of the running yesterday when he announced he was taking a break from the game after ending him time with Borussia Dortmund.

The favourites now to replace Rodgers at Anfield are former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti and Ajax boss Frank de Boer.
