Brendan Rodgers sacked: statistic shows ONLY Rafa Benitez had a better Premier League win percentage

Here is a statistic to (slightly) cheer up Brendan Rodgers this morning.

In Premier League matches, only Rafa Benitez has a higher win percentage as Liverpool manager.

After Rodgers was given the sack yesterday, he leaves Anfield with a win percentage of 51.6%, which was only bettered by Benitez (55.3%) in the Premier League era.

The German Jurgen Klopp, who left his role at Borussia Dortmund, at the end of last season, is the current favourite with both the bookies and the fans.

Liverpool's owners have revealed that the search is "underway" to find Rodgers' successor.

In a joint Fenway Sports Group statement, Principal Owner John W Henry, Chairman Tom Werner and President Mike Gordon said:

“Although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for success on the pitch. Ambition and winning are at the heart of what we want to bring to Liverpool and we believe this change gives us the best opportunity to deliver it.

“The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner.”
