Sean Dyche said he was "raging" after Arsenal were awarded a decisive penalty at Turf Moor in added time on Sunday – though the Burnley manager admitted it might have been the correct decision.

The referee Lee Mason pointed to the spot when Aaron Ramsey went to ground in a challenge with the Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski, and Alexis Sanchez scored from the spot to seal a 1-0 win for the Gunners.

"Football is a harsh game and sometimes it hurts you," said Dyche. "There is a lot of me inside that is raging a lot. It was highly unlikely it was not going to get given on a day like today, that's all I will say.

"It's a tough one, it probably is a penalty, but my point is it was never not going to be given on today's performance, I can assure you."

Arsene Wenger defended Ramsey, who was confronted by several Burnley players immediately after the incident, but Dyche believes it is the latest in a string of incidents which prove bigger clubs get the rub of the green.

"Bigger clubs seem to get the decisions. I'm not sure it's a fact, I'm not sure anyone has statted it, but for years managers have been promoting this thought that they do.

"I am not saying it is anything to do with that today, it is one that probably gets given, but I have seen them not given. We had one there (at the Emirates last season) as well. We look forward to going there and getting another one to make it four. People will start putting money on that."

The defeat, Burnley's third of the season, leaves them seventh on the Premier League. Dyche's side are back in action on Wednesday night at Bournemouth.
