Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea squad flew to Montreal, Canada, on Wednesday afternoon ahead of their three-game pre-season tour of the US.

The squad will be based in the south-eastern city despite all three of their matches taking place over the border. Chelsea play the New York Red Bulls in New Jersey, Paris Saint-Germain in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Barcelona in Washington DC.

The club will fly back to Canada straight after their first and second matches, returning to London directly from Washington DC on 28 July.

Montreal has been picked due to its 'favourable climate', a statement on the club website said, with Chelsea at their base for almost a week before heading south to face Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, 22 July at Red Bull Arena.

The four players who took part in the Copa America, Willian, Juan Cuadrado, Filipe Luis and new signing Radamel Falcao, will join up with the squad on that day and could appear in the match. Fellow new signing Asmir Begovic flew with the squad on Wednesday.

Chelsea play PSG at the home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, the Bank of America Stadium, on 25 July before playing at the Washington Redskins' FedExField, against Barcelona, on 29 July.

Their Montreal base will mean that the Chelsea squad have to make around 2,750 miles worth of internal flights in between matches.

Chelsea also announced that they would be hosting coaching sessions in Montreal, Charlotte and Washington DC.
