Jurgen Klopp was so overjoyed with Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Chelsea last night that he appeared to forget to shake hands with counterpart Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds left the capital with three points after Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson strikes rendered Diego Costa’s second-half goal a mere consolation, prompting the German into his trademark chest-puffed-out celebration on the side-lines.

Klopp galloped onto the pitch to congratulate his victorious players, overseeing the ritual of shaking his opponent manager’s hand, before enjoying this latest Liverpool triumph in front of the travelling supporters.

Conte, the Chelsea manager, appeared to brush Klopp’s forgetful moment off before trudging down the Stamford Bridge tunnel to conduct his post-match team talk.

And speaking at full-time, former Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp said the Blues simply couldn’t cope with the Reds’ intensity and attacking endeavour.

“We played football like hell, it was really nice to watch,” he said.

“You don't understand it, football like hell? Very lively, very flexible. We never thought about anything else other than playing our football.

“I told the lads before the game, everything can happen, there’s no guarantee of getting anything at Chelsea, but if we lose our way, the probability we get something, if we are really convinced about the kind of play it is bigger.”
