Manchester City have the chance to move an incredible 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League table by the end of 2017 if they can beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Pep Guardiola’s side are yet to suffer defeat in the league this season and have pulled clear of both Manchester United and Chelsea, who yesterday moved into second place with a 5-0 win over Stoke City while United laboured to another draw, this time against Southampton.

City have also won their last 18 Premier League matches and can equal Guardiola’s all-time record of 19 league wins, set while he was with Bayern Munich, if they see off the Eagles. Roy Hodgson’s were beaten 3-2 by Arsenal last time out, and sit precariously above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

Manchester City will extend their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with a win today. That's a ridiculous margin given we are only just over half-way into the season.

Pep Guardiola's men are on course to finish the campaign with a record-shattering 110 points - that's 15 more than Jose Mourinho's Chelsea racked up in the 2004/05 season.

Gabriel Jesus starts up front for City today. Can he add to the 10 goals he has already scored this season?

Pep: I'm surprised by how good we are

Manchester City have been so good this season that even Pep Guardiola has been surprised by his team's level of play.

"In this six months together, we won't forget for the rest of our lives," he told BT Sport.

"18 games in a row, no I didn't expect that. When you think about 19 in a row, especially in the Premier League, I assure you if we started again that it wouldn't happen again."

Pre-match quotes from Roy Hodgson

On the changes he's made to the Crystal Palace team: "We've got injuries. We've got six regular players out through injury, two who have been out for a long time and four others.

"The changes have been forced upon me rather than me making changes with the Southampton game in mind."
