Roberto Martinez and Rafa Benitez are weighing up their options this weekend before deciding whether to move on to Everton and Napoli respectively. Of the two Spanish managers, Benitez has the more concrete offer, the Italian club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, having gone on record as wanting him on a two-year contract.

A six-month spell at Chelsea as "interim manager" has therefore worked well for Benitez, adding the Europa League trophy to his CV and keeping him in the public eye. Ideally he would like to stay in England, the family home still being on the Wirral from his Liverpool days, and with other opportunities possible, it would make sense to keep his options open. In the early hours of this morning Benitez was overseeing his last match with Chelsea, a friendly in New York against Manchester City.

Martinez is the favourite to succeed David Moyes at Everton. He feels strong ties to Wigan Athletic after four years there and has promised the club's chairman Dave Whelan to consider staying after talks between them last Wednesday. Although bitterly disappointed by relegation from the Premier League, however, he may decide that the FA Cup is a suitable parting gift.
