Diego Costa criticises Chelsea team-mates, but Jamie Carragher suggests forward's been 'asleep all season'

Diego Costa made clear his frustration with his Chelsea team-mates during their match with Leicester, but his gesturing only gave pundit Jamie Carragher an excuse to criticise the striker.

With his team trailing 1-0 at the King Power Stadium the Spain international appeared to imply that the defensive players were asleep for Jamie Vardy's opening goal. In a conversation with midfielders Nemanja Matic and Ramires and defender Kurt Zouma, Costa twice gestured with his hands held to the side of his face to suggest they weren't awake.

With the incident picked up by cameras, Sky Sports pundit Carragher took a dig at Costa, saying he was the last Chelsea player in a position to dish out criticism.

"There's nothing worse than a player coming back telling other people what they should be doing considering he's been asleep all season," said Carragher.

"He's done nothing really for Chelsea this season considering what he did last year."

Costa has scored just three Premier League goals this season. Last term he scored 20.

Soon after Costa's words with his team-mates, his side were trailing 2-0.
