Over the course of the World Cup, Everton were rather busy. However you may have missed it as the Toffees made a habit of making announcements when key World Cup games were in action.

Tony Hibbert and Seamus Coleman have agreed new contracts whilst perhaps the best to put their name on the dotted line was manager Roberto Martinez, who committed the next five-years of his career to Goodison Park. Gareth Barry has also joined the club permanently after spending last term on loan with the club.

So more of the same so far, but Everton might need some new additions if they are to improve on last season's impressive fifth place finish. With Romelu Lukaku and Gerard Deulofeu returning to their clubs after impressing on loan last season, there are gaps to fill.

New signings

Gareth Barry

The former Manchester City player was hugely impressive during last season's loan spell so it was little surprise that Everton convinced him to stay permanently. A three-year deal was agreed with the free agent.

Pre-season plans

There is no major pre-season tour for Everton but they will be heading to Bangkok to play Premier League newcomers Leicester City. Prior to that they play Tranmere whilst after they take on Portuguese giants FC Porto at Goodison Park to mark Leon Osman's testimonial.
