Harry Kane: After scoring same number of Premier League goals as Arsenal in January, Tottenham striker is named Player of the Month

Kane and Arsenal both scored five goals last month

Harry Kane has been named Premier League Player of the Month for January, after a brilliant month in which he scored five goals and Tottenham won three out of four matches.

In fact, Kane's goal scoring record was equal to that of the entire Arsenal team, who scored five goals in their three matches, collecting six points from three games.

The stat is slightly misleading, as the Gunners did score five goals on 1 February, the day after Spurs beat West Brom at The Hawthorns (31 January).

Kane started January with a brilliant individual performance as Spurs surprised league leaders Chelsea with a superb 5-3 victory at White Hart Lane on New Year's Day; the 21-year-old scored twice and also grabbed an assist.

He also scored at Selhurst Park but Crystal Palace fought back to win 2-1, Jason Puncheon scoring the winner.

Kane was impressive in the 2-1 win against Sunderland, although he didn't manage to get on the scoresheet, and was again the man of the match when Spurs visited West Brom, scoring two thumping goals in a 3-0 win.

The striker, who is expected to get an England call-up in March, has continued his form into February, scoring three goals in his last two matches against Arsenal and in the defeat to Liverpool.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman was named the manager of the month
