The Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, confirmed after his side's 4-2 defeat to Charlton at Highbury yesterday that Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Sylvain Wiltord and Robert Pires will travel to Melbourne tomorrow for France's friendly international against Australia.

Arsenal had led the opposition to next Sunday's match, which Wenger has called "crazy", appealing unsuccessfully to Fifa, football's world governing body, for no more than one player per club to be chosen.

David Wetherall's £1.5m move from Bradford City to Southampton is in danger of collapsing because he wants a long-term contract.

The Wolves manager, Dave Jones, is trying to sign Oldham's Northern Ireland Under-21 goalkeeper David Miskelly for £500,000.

Steve Banks looks likely to leave Bolton after a row with his manager, Sam Allardyce, that saw him relegated to the bench against Everton on Saturday. Banks has been angered by Allardyce's move for Barcelona's Frenchman Richard Dutruel.
