How was the season for you?: Fulham
Tuesday, 13 May 2008
We've got the views of season ticket holder Will Hawkes.
But how was it for you? Comment at the bottom of this article and have your say on your team's season.
Who has been your best player this season?
Simon Davies has been the best of a not-that-impressive bunch.
Who would you be glad to see the back of?
Chris Baird. Probably be glad to leave given the abuse he has taken.
What was your best performance?
Hard to think of a good 90 minutes: perhaps Aston Villa at home, when it first looked like we might stay up.
And the worst?
Derby at home, 0-0. The footballing equivalent of two bald men fighting over a comb.
Who have been your toughest opponents?
Probably Arsenal or Manchester United, both of whom barely broke a sweat at Craven Cottage.
Best player faced?
Emmanuel Adebayor. Good AND tall.
Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?
Fancy-dressed Birmingham fans starting on kids after we beat them. That was hilarious.
Your perfect, but realistic signing?
We need a bit of bite in midfield – a Claude Makelele type. Maybe Chelsea want shot of him.
Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?
Things have looked a lot better since Roy Hodgson took over. We might not be so anonymous next season.
Reasons to be gloomy?
Chelsea may win the European Cup.
Who will you support in Euro 2008?
France.
Overall assessment of your manager?
Excellent. He believes in passing football and has brought the best out of a fairly limited group.
And overall assessment of your team?
They’ve been a lot better since January but too many went through the motions before then. There appears to be a formidable team spirit that bodes well for the future.
Marks out of 10?

Who has been your best player this season?
Simon Davies
Who would you be glad to see the back of?
I'm too nice to answer questions like this, but Dejan Stefanovic for his late season outburst
What was your best performance?
Reading away! Or Portsmouth away, or City away, or Birmingham at home. Villa? Maybe best own goal of the season, but I don't know why you'd choose that game.
And the worst?
Spurs away
Who have been your toughest opponents?
Man Utd probably (or Derby, pound for pound)
Best player faced?
Adebayor was a handful, but didn't really hurt us over there. Martin Petrov gave us trouble in both games
Funniest/most bizarre moment of the season?
Paul Konchesky throwing Nani into the metal hoardings perhaps. Tony Warner's transformation from hero to zero wasn't funny, but was philosophically interesting
Your perfect, but realistic signing?
Someone I haven't yet heard of. Roy will find him and he will be good.
Any reasons to be cheerful going into next season?
Yes - we could be pretty good if we sign a couple of players
Reasons to be gloomy?
I maintain that football's quite random, and we could easily get the wrong end of the stick again next year if we're not careful
Who will you support in Euro 2008?
Sweden
Overall assessment of your manager?
A wonderful man who does things the right way. Refreshing in every way
And overall assessment of your team?
On the up. Not a relegation team in the first place, but events ran away with us. Expect much more next season

Totally agree about the "going through the motions bit". The rot set in Xmas 2006. On Boxing Day we went to Chelsea, Volz scored the Premiership's 15,000th goal, we got a good 2-2 draw and were 11th in the table 12 points clear of the bottom three. Instead of pushing on from there half the side decided the season's job was done and the rest of the season was a frustrating slide which Coleman couldn't arrest. led to the Sanchez era of ugly football played badly.
Sunday's escape was on a par with the Houdini acts the club was famous for in the 1960's, and the over 60's will probably recall that Sunday's escape didn't match some of those. The parallels don't stop there though. The 1960's side relied heavily on a couple of class players (Haynes and Cohen) surrounded by more average talents who subsequently proved unable to stay in the second tier once the inevitable relegation came. The side today is not that different
