Jack Wilshere could return to the Arsenal team against Galatasaray on Wednesday, just days after suffering an ankle injury against Tottenham.

Wilshere, 22, was forced off in the north London derby that finished 1-1 on Saturday, but is said to be making good progress.

The England man was one of three Arsenal midfielder's injured in the game - Aaron Ramsey is set to miss at least a month and Mikel Arteta three weeks.

Wilshere will be carefully assessed over the next couple of days and if he doesn't make it back in time for the midweek Champions League clash, he should be fit for the crunch tie against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The injuries leave Mathieu Flamini as the only fully fit central midfielder, though Tomas Rosicky and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have played in the position before.

Wenger could even turn to Calum Chambers or Abou Diaby, but Arsenal have a similar shortage in defence, and Wenger does not want to rush Diaby into first-team action so soon into his recovery.
