Jagielka agrees new four-year deal

The Everton defender Phil Jagielka has signed a new four-year contract at Goodison Park, replacing his existing one, which was due to expire in 2014.

The centre-back has played 131 games for David Moyes's side since joining from Sheffield United in 2007, and won the club's player of the year award in 2008.

"I'm absolutely delighted to commit my future to Everton," the 28-year-old said. "I can concentrate on the football and hopefully there are exciting times ahead for the club."
