The wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has labelled her husband’s lookalike “a stalker” after blocking him on social media, despite him claiming that he has not done anything wrong towards the England international and his family.

Lee Chapman, who made a name for himself when he was invited onto the Leicester City team bus during their celebrations after winning the Premier League title, has taken six months off from his regular job with Royal Mail to embark on a career as Vardy’s doppelganger.

Chapman has a remarkable resemblance to Vardy – who has been named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the European Championships – and has even been approached to join a television programme documenting various lookalikes.

However, Chapman’s new career took a turn for the worse when he was blocked from social media by both Vardy and his new wife, Rebekah, who accused the fan of repeatedly tagging himself in her pictures and posting links to his company.

Responding to messages on Twitter claiming it was unfair to block the season ticket holder, Mrs Vardy said: "And??? Being a season ticket holder doesn't give you the green light to become a stalker!"

As quoted by The Sun, she added: "I personally wished him all the best but also asked him to STOP tagging himself into every picture I put up...Of my family which usually had my children in. Also tagging his agency & promoting their business..."

"I don't block people for no reason!"

The news of Chapman’s social media exile was delivered by Vardy’s agent, John Morris, who sent a text message to the lookalike warning of legal action if the striker’s image was damaged in any way.

The text read: “If you do anything that affects Jamie’s image directly and his endorsement deals we will take legal action . . . You can understand that I’m sure.”

According to Chapman’s agent, James Austin, he has been deeply upset by the Vardy family’s reaction and has considered ending his role as the footballer’s doppelganger.

"Lee is genuinely very upset about all this and is devastated,” Austin told The Sun.

"He had been doing a kid's birthday party at a soccer school when he found out what had been said and it put a sour note on the day."

Chapman added: "I can't understand why I am supposed to be a stalker. I've only met her once and I don't tag her in any of my Twitter posts.

"I have no idea, I don't get it. I can't help the way I look and I'm not costing them anything.

"This could affect my relationship with the club. I have been a Leicester fan since I was a kid.

"I'm very disappointed."
