Jose Mourinho rules himself out of the running for the Manchester United manager's job, saying 'I don't want to leave Chelsea'

Chelsea manager had been linked with the Old Trafford post last season

Jose Mourinho has dismissed any speculation that he will take over at Manchester United next season.

United sacked David Moyes on Tuesday after a hugely disappointing 10-month spell as manager after replacing Alex Ferguson last July. The defending English champions are currently seventh in the table, 23 points behind arch rivals and leaders Liverpool.

The Chelsea manager had been heavily linked with the succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford last season before he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid for his second spell.

It was reported in Spain that Mourinho even broke down in tears after being overlooked for the United job for Moyes, but the Portuguese claims that he only wants to coach at Chelsea.

When asked today if there was a chance he could join United, Mourinho said:"Of course not. I don’t know how somebody can think about it.

"I left Real Madrid specifically to come to Chelsea. I signed a four-year contract and told Chelsea fans they never have to worry about me because I don’t want to leave here until the club wants."
