Leicester City face a testing trip to the troubled city of Belgrade in the first round of the Uefa Cup next month. The Foxes have been drawn against the former European champions Red Star Belgrade, with the first leg at Filbert Street on 14 September and the return in Yugoslavia two weeks later.

Chelsea begin their campaign at home against the Swiss side St Gallen and Liverpool starting with a trip to Romania to meet Rapid Bucharest, but Heart of Midlothian face a tough task against VfB Stuttgart.

With Britain's relationship with the Milosevic regime virtually non-existent, Leicester must take diplomatic advice. "The Foreign Office have advised that only essential journeys should be made to Belgrade," said David Davies, acting chief executive of the Football Association.

"It will be up to Leicester City, after they have consulted with all the necessary authorities, whether they go or not."

When Leeds United were drawn to play Partizan Belgrade last season the first leg was played in the Netherlands.
