Liverpool are reportedly close to agreeing a six-month loan deal for Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The Real Madrid striker has made it clear he wishes to move on from the Bernabeu to secure first team football and a place among the Dutch squad ahead of the World Cup.
The former Manchester United striker has also indicated his willingness to return to the Premier League where he enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Old Trafford.
Having been linked with various clubs, including Arsenal and Blackburn, it now appears the 33-year-old set for a move to Anfield.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is desperate to add some fire power to his misfiring team and van Nistelrooy would provide the ideal remedy.
With the current financial constraints at Anfield, it's thought a loan deal is the most likely outcome should the signing come to fruition.
