Are Liverpool about to put their goalkeeping woes behind them by signing Burnley's highly-rated stopper Tom Heaton?
That is exactly the prediction of The Sun this morning, which reports that Jurgen Klopp is willing to spend around £15m so he never has to write "Simon Mignolet" or "Loris Karius" at the top of his teamsheet again.
The 30-year-old has three and a half years left on his contract at Turf Moor and both Manchester City and Everton are said to be interested in his services.
Meanwhile, Sporting Lisbon's combative midfielder William Carvalho has been linked with a move to Anfield by Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
The sports daily reckons Liverpool representatives discussed a move for Carvalho as they agreed to cancel Lazar Markovic's loan deal in Portugal ahead of his move to Hull City.
Sporting are said to want at least €30m (£25.6m) but the Liverpool Echohas rubbished any suggestion Klopp is interested.
Elsewhere, Liverpool might derail Newcastle's bid for Angers winger Nicolas Pepe, according to L'Equipe.
The Ligue 1 club are hoping to get at least €10m (£8.5m) for the 21-year-old who has been away at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast this month. Everton and Marseille are also said to be interested.
Perhaps crucially, unlike the contract Luiz Suarez signed shortly before joining Barcelona, it is understood Coutinho's deal does not include a release clause.
