Joe Hart paid tribute to manager Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City clinched their second Premier League title with a comfortable 2-0 win over West Ham.

City realistically only needed to avoid defeat to take the crown, but got the win thanks to goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany to pip Liverpool by two points.

It meant Pellegrini could celebrate a league and Capital One Cup double in his first season in charge.

"He's a winner, he wants us to win," Hart said of his manager on Sky Sports 1.

"He is a measured man and he believes in what he does."

City timed their run to perfection, winning their last five games as Liverpool stumbled with the finishing line in sight.

"We came strong at the end, we won the games we needed to," Hart added.

"We are all winners, strong personalities."

Pellegrini himself claimed the success felt "very special".

"I manage a great group of players and a great institution," he said.

"I think we were the best team of the Premier League.

"It's a very special group. Maybe they were in a very difficult moment when I arrived here, but they always believed what I told them.

"I think that big teams cannot be satisfied with just one title. We have two titles in the year, on Tuesday we start working for next season."

Kompany echoed his manager's words, saying: "We are building a club, not just a team.

"The past is the past, but surely we have our place in the future. Next year we have to be even better. If we want to be a big club this has to be one of many."

Nasri added: "It's an amazing feeling. My second title in three years. It was an amazing league the whole year.

"There are no words to explain the feeling now. Maybe in an hour or two we will feel it. I'm so happy for the manager too because it's his first title in England."
