Jose Mourinho has claimed that his Chelsea team were the "best team in the second half" and that the 3-0 scoreline in which they were defeated by Manchester City today was "completely fake".

City dispatched of Chelsea with the convincing victory, but Mourinho refused to admit he lost to a better team.

"The best team in the first half won the game; the best team in the second half was Chelsea for sure," the manager said after the game.

"If the 1-0 was doubtful, the 3-0 is completely fake. Chelsea was the best team in the second half.

"They make a change because they feel 1-0 is in danger and we concede a second goal. If 1-1 a different story, their team is in trouble.

"They should end the game with nine men, but their second and third goals were my players' mistakes. I have to be happy with the second half we did."

Sergio Aguero's superb finish gave City a deserved 31st- minute lead and Vincent Kompany's second goal in two games sealed the points for Manuel Pellegrini's side before Fernandinho completed the rout.

Cheers rang around the Etihad Stadium as City put down an ominous marker, moving top of the table on goal difference with a maximum six-point haul and six unanswered goals.

City, the 2014 champions, are five points above Chelsea having trailed the London club for the whole of last season before finishing runners-up.
