British record signing Angel Di Maria will definitely miss the match against Stoke on Tuesday night after picking up a hamstring injury against Hull at the weekend.
Di Maria lasted played just 14 minutes of Manchester United's 3-0 win at Old Trafford, and is unlikely to feature. Wayne Rooney also picked up a knock during the game but is expected to be fit in time to face Mark Hughes' team.
Speaking to MUTV, United boss Louis van Gaal said: "Angel shall be out for Stoke, I think.
"Wayne, I don't know. He said he would be fit for Stoke. I hope he is because he is in great form."

Show all 5Rooney scored his fifth Premier League goal of the season on Saturday as United consolidated their place in the top four, and are now four points off third-place Southampton, who they play next Monday.
Radamel Falcao could make his first appearance in more than a month while Jonny Evans has an outside chance of making a return to first-team action against Stoke, but Jesse Lingard, Rafael, Phil Jones and Luke Shaw will all have to wait to make their return.
Daley Blind remains a long-term concern.
