David De Gea will not feature for Manchester United against Real Madrid tomorrow night against Aston Villa, leading Louis van Gaal's list of absentees for the game.

De Gea sat out United's season-opening win against Tottenham last week. Van Gaal felt he was not able to focus because of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

"No, it's the same situation," the United manager said when asked if De Gea would be in the squad for the Villa game.

Phil Jones has been ruled out after a blood clot was found in the defender's calf.

Marcos Rojo is still lacking match fitness after returning to pre-season late after playing in the Copa America final.

Bastian Schweinsteiger hopes to be 100 per cent after working towards match fitness. The German came on as a substitute for the final 30 minutes of United's 1-0 win over Tottenham on the opening day of the season.

"The training sessions are very important for me, too. I’m getting better and I hope I will be 100 per cent fit in the next week," he told Manchester United's official website.
