Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling was taken off during England's 1-1 draw with Italy and could leave Louis van Gaal with a potential defensive shortage against Aston Villa at the weekend.
The centre-back left the game just before half-time feeling unwell and was replaced by United team-mate Michael Carrick.
With Jonny Evans suspended and Luke Shaw recovering from a hamstring injury, Louis van Gaal could be forced to continue with midfielders Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia in the back four if neither Shaw nor Smalling returns.
If Smalling does not return then Marcos Rojo will partner Phil Jones in the centre of defence, but any further injuries will mean the Dutch coach will have to call on youngsters Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett.

Fortunately for Van Gaal no other injuries were picked up during the international break, but there are still questions hanging over Robin van Persie.
