Manchester United must win the rest of their games to catch City, admits Jesse Lingard

Manchester United may have to win all 20 of their remaining Premier League games if they are to beat Manchester City to the title, Jesse Lingard has admitted.

The gap between the two sides stands at 11 points already after City’s victory in the Manchester derby, with United three points clear in second, ahead of third-placed Chelsea.

Lingard, who scored during Sunday’s 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion to make it four goals in his last five games, thinks United must now keep a 100 per cent record to catch their neighbours, therefore all but conceding the title.

“Probably but we will take each game as it comes,” Lingard said then asked if it will take winning every game to catch City. “We'll concentrate on the next and see where we are at the end of the season.

“With the squad, we have got we have to always believe in each game. Some games we will play badly and win and sometimes we will play good and lose so it's one of those haphazards of football.

“I think any other season we would be top with the points we have so as long as we keep winning games that's the most important thing and we will see where we are.”
