Bastian Schweinsteiger’s brother appears to have accused Jose Mourinho of showing “no respect” to the Manchester United midfielder.

Schweinsteiger trained with the club’s reserve side on Monday having been omitted from Mourinho’s 25-man squad for Saturday’s 5-2 friendly win over Galatasaray in Gothenburg.

Tobias Schweinsteiger, who is the assistant manager of Bayern Munich’s Under-17s team, posted a tweet the same evening, simply reading: “No respect”.

Schweinsteiger was signed from Bayern for £5m last summer by Louis van Gaal, Mourinho’s predecessor, but he struggled for both fitness and form during his debut campaign.

The Germany international and World Cup winner started just 13 league games for United and made only four appearances after suffering a knee injury in early January.

His absence from the club during his rehabilitation period led some of his teammates to believe that he was afforded "special treatment" by Van Gaal.

The Dutchman, who previously worked with Schweinsteiger at Bayern between 2009 and 2011, allowed Schweinsteiger to "take the piss", according to one source.

Schweinsteiger is believed to be one of several players who United are willing to sell, having been deemed surplus to requirements by Mourinho.

Adnan Januzaj, Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair and Will Keane have also been told that their futures lie away from Old Trafford.
