Manchester United v Cardiff City: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer given raucous welcome on return to Old Trafford
The former striker takes an opposing team to Old Trafford for the first time
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was given a warm welcome by Manchester United fans tonight, despite returning to Old Trafford as a rival.
The Norwegian was facing his former team for the first time since he was appointed as manager of Cardiff City.
Solskjaer was welcomed with applause as he came out of the tunnel before a big cheer as the 1999 Champions League Final goal scorer's name was read out.
That was followed by chants of 'Ole, Ole, Ole' from around Old Trafford before a rendition of 'You are my Solskjaer, my only Solskjaer'.
Fred the Red was even on hand to give the Cardiff City manager a high five.
Despite the warm reception, Solskjaer would have been looking to keep his focus on picking up some points having seen his team slip into the relegation zone since replacing Malky Mackay.
That wasn't made any easier when Manchester United took a 1-0 lead, triggering fans to begin more Solskjaer related chants including 'Who put the ball in the Germans' net' and the 'Shearer song'.
