Martin Skrtel has revealed his head needed to be stapled after colliding with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

The Liverpool centre-back had his head strapped up before rising powerfully to head home the Reds' equaliser in the 97th minute - injury time given because of the Slovakian's head injury.

The defender later took to Instagram to show a picture of his wound, which needed half a dozen staples.

"Dissapoiting [sic] with the result but happy to scored that late goal and helped the team to get at least the point!" he posted.

The image was part of a collage that showed the Giroud collision and Skrtel scoring then celebrating.

Philippe Coutinho put Liverpool into a first-half lead but Arsenal responded almost immediately through Mathieu Debuchy.
