Harry Redknapp has resigned as manager of QPR.

The decision to quit just hours after the close of the January transfer window has been blamed on impending knee surgery for the 67-year-old. However the timing is likely to raise questions.

Tony Fernandes, who owns the club, recently gave his public backing to the former Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham boss however there has now been a parting of the ways.

Attention will quickly turn to who will replace Redknapp at Loftus Road as the club look to escape the relegation zone. With the club currently occupying 19th position in the Premier League table, whoever comes in faces a tough task.
