Nicklas Bendtner could be set for England return as Queen Park Rangers consider shock move for striker

Queen Park Rangers are considering a shock move for former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, according to reports.

The Denmark forward was released from German club Wolfsburg earlier this year and is currently available as a free agent.

QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is keen to bolster his side’s frontline and has identified Bendtner a as suitable addition to his squad, the ESPN reports.

Bendtner moved to Germany in the summer of 2014 after his contract at Arsenal expired where he made over 100 appearances, scoring 24 goals.

During his time at the north London club the Dane was loaned out to Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus as he struggled to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s side.

The player’s wage demands could prove to be stumbling block but it seems QPR are willing to offer the forward a chance to get his career back on track by offering him a move to Loftus Road.

At 28, Bendtner may still have a number of years left in the tank and could help fire QPR into the promotion this season.

Rangers have made a comfortable start to the season, winning two of their opening four Championship fixtures.

Bendtner was released last April by Wolfsburg with over a year to run on his contract after running into disciplinary issues with the club.

In February, the Bundesliga club fined him for driving to training in a Mercedes S-Class when the club are owned by rival manufacturer Volkswagen.

Bendtner was then forced to train alone and fined £1,770 for turning up 45 minutes late for a session.
