Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is hoping he is renewing his acquaintance with striker Nicklas Bendtner at just the right time.
The 23-year-old Arsenal frontman clinched a season-long loan move to the Stadium of Light on transfer deadline day, and is due to train with his new team-mates for the first time tomorrow following his return from international duty.
Bruce, who worked with the Denmark international during his spell at Birmingham, knows all about his talent, and is hoping his career is just about to take off.
He told SAFC TV: "I had the pleasure of working with Nicklas when he was a young boy at Birmingham and I have monitored his career ever since.
"There's no doubt that he has terrific ability, and we might just have got him at the right time.
"He's got something to prove and a real hunger to show people just how good he is.
"Maybe he's lost his way a little bit over the last couple of years, but I'm convinced this is the right move for him.
"Nicklas is a very naturally gifted footballer."Reuse content
