Old Trafford pitch invaded by a mouse as Manchester United struggle

The full-time whistle at Old Trafford was greeted by a loud chorus of boos as Manchester United's unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt against Southampton.

New signing Charlie Austin came off the bench to score the winner, United's first defeat since Boxing Day

Louis van Gaal's team managed just one shot on target in a game described as "awful", "boring", "rubbish" and much, much worse.

Boos rang out before the half-time whistle even blew as United's attack was again blunted by an organised defence.

In their last 11 home matches, stretching back to October, United have scored just seven goals in front of a crowd that usually expects a lot more.

Indeed, the loudest cheer of the day came when a mouse invaded the Old Trafford pitch:

Should the mouse take over from Van Gaal?
