If Arsenal fans were in any doubt what Petr Cech is bringing to their side, it took the former Chelsea goalkeeper less than 45 minutes to prove his doubter wrong.

The 33-year-old’s arrival at Arsenal prompted loud cries of “we’re going to win the league!” at the Emirates. While those chants are premature – at least until May – his walk out at the Singapore National Stadium triggered a wall of noise for the only summer signing at the club so far.

The Gunners are in pre-season action in the Barclays Asia Trophy this week having dispatched a Singapore Select XI to set-up a final showdown with Premier League foes Everton, and it gave Cech the opportunity to make his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt. He didn’t disappoint.

With Everton winning a free-kick on the right of the pitch, Luke Garbutt floated in a cross that Steven Naismith got his head to, and the ball was destined for the back of the net. Enter Cech.

The Czech Republic international sprung into action and flicked the ball onto the crossbar. The ball did eventually find its way into the back of the net via a deflected Kone effort, only to be ruled out for offside.

Sorry Chelsea fans, but the Cech-Arsenal love affair has already started.
