The Premier League have released the fixture list for the 2014/15 season, with defending champions Manchester City set to meet last year’s runners-up Liverpool in the second round in a blockbuster start.

The Reds will head into the match after opening their account against Southampton which will see striker Rickie Lambert come up against his former club immediately after his £4m summer switch, while City will begin their defence on the road against Newcastle.

Elsewhere, Arsenal will begin their campaign at home to Crystal Palace, with north London rivals Tottenham facing West Ham away as they look to gain revenge for last season’s treble.

Chelsea will begin the season against newly-promoted Burnley before hosting another returning side in Leicester City, while Louis van Gaal’s reign at Manchester United will begin with a home tie against Swansea in a particularly low-key start for the Dutchman.
