Mauricio Pochettino knows that this is a must-win game following their 3-0 humbling at Old Trafford last Sunday. Despite their recent good form, their top four aspirations have suddenly taken a bleak spin after that painful defeat and nothing less than a win against relegation candidates Leicester City will keep their lofty ambitions alive.

Nigel Pearson looks to be feeling the pressure, with his side cut seven points adrift of safety. Although he will take comfort from the fact that The Foxes have a game in hand. He will also be encouraged by his side’s win at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup fourth round this season, and will be desperately looking for a repeat performance on Saturday.

After a Gary Doherty own goal had cancelled out Michael Brown’s opener, Defoe struck his first after 13 minutes before Robbie Keane gave Spurs a two-goal cushion. Les Ferdinand pulled a goal back, before Ben Thatcher and Marcus Bent flipped the scoreline in Leicester’s favour despite the dismissal of James Scowcroft. It took a late strike from the 21 year old Defoe to spare the home crowd too much embarrassment.
