Rumours regarding the age of Radamel Falcao were "never an issue" Manchester United have said.

The transfer deadline day arrival from Monaco has been dogged by claims he is older than he claims.

The striker is 28-years-old, but rumours have suggested he is actually two years older than that.

The rumours are not new, and the Colombian international has rubbished them in the past, commenting on Twitter in 2013 that they are "completely ridiculous". Falcao has also released a copy of his birth certificate in a bid to end the speculation.

With the former Atletico Madrid striker set to make his debut on Sunday when Manchester United entertain QPR, a club spokesman dismissed the speculation.

“We were aware of the rumours at the time and it was never an issue,” they said.

Falcao is on loan for the season with an agreement in place that Manchester United can buy the striker permanently at the end of the campaign.
