Radamel Falcao 'will become Falcao again' insists agent who backs striker to be a hit at Manchester United

The Colombian has struggled since joining the club on loan

Radamel Falcao will rediscover his best form and make an impression at Manchester United in the last few months on the season, says his agent.

The Colombian striker has struggled since joining the club on loan from Monaco, scoring just four goals in 16 appearances for the Red Devils. It is not the return expected of a striker held in such high esteem - and paid such huge wages.

Manchester United have an option to convert his loan into a permanent deal at the end of the season - but with the fee set at £43m it is still not clear if Louis van Gaal will opt to sign the 28-year-old.

However, Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes says the striker's injury problems must be taken into account and that between now and the end of the season his client will show why there was such excitement when he arrived at the club.

“Falcao is a Manchester United player,” said Mendes. “Falcao will become Falcao again.

“He’ll be a great player with United. The problem is that in football you have a short memory.

“When a player is injured, after six or seven months without competing, people forget, but in the end the player is the same."

Falcao missed the World Cup with a serious knee injury and struggled for fitness upon his arrival at Old Trafford. However, he played in five of Manchester United's six games in January and managed to score twice, suggesting he could be turning a corner.

"Falcao is a top player who will leave his mark on United’s season," added Mendes. "He will help them a lot and they’ll be very much better with him."
