Refugee crisis: English football fans say #RefugeesWelcome in show of solidarity
Many shared their displays on social media
Football supporters across England showed solidarity with the thousands of refugees fleeing war-torn countries and hoping to start a safe life in Europe.
Fans at clubs of all levels, ranging from Arsenal in the Premier League to Bacup Borough in the North West Counties League, joined in on the 'day of action' called by Twitter campaign @RefugeesEFL.
Other clubs to lend their support included FC United of Manchester, Norwich City, Charlton Athletic, Dulwich Hamlet and AFC Wimbledon.
Many of the fan groups shared images of their support on social media using the hashtag #RefugeesWelcome
Other supporter groups are expected to perform similar displays of solidarity during next weekend's set of fixtures.
