Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that he may choose to stay at the club now that Harry Redknapp has left.
Gomes was a regular feature for the north London side until Redknapp signed Brad Friedel last summer and the Brazilian lost his place.
The keeper found himself completely frozen out at the club and did not make a competitive appearance in the 2011-12 season as Friedel was first choice keeper and Carlo Cudicini was back-up.
Gomes was believed to be leaving in January but decided to stay a little longer and his decision may well pay off now that Redknapp has left. The South American is keen to discover who the club’s new manager will be and more importantly whether he will get a chance to prove himself again before he makes any decision about his future.
In an interview with The Sun he said, “It was a hard season.
“I was desperate to leave. Now things have changed as the manager left last week. I want to return to the national team but I have to play first.”
