With the World Cup over, attention turns to the upcoming Premier League season. A new season brings new hope for Spurs with Mauricio Pochettino taking over from Tim Sherwood, who lasted just six months in charge.

Tottenham were as inconsistent as ever last season, following good performances with terrible ones as they struggled to mount a sustained challenge at the top.

Pochettino enjoyed an excellent season last year guiding Southampton to eighth place. However, he has never finished higher than that in his managerial career and lacks experience at the very top.

With Manchester United and Everton also chasing a Champions League place, Pochettino will have his work cut out to deliver what the Tottenham board and fans want.

Here, we take a look at those who have arrived at the club, who might still be on their way and a look at their pre-season plans.

Pre-season plans

Spurs are another club to head to North America on their pre-season tour, but rather than playing other European clubs they will face three MLS teams. In just over a week they will play three matches against the Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC and the Chicago Fire. They will then play Celtic in Helsinki before hosting Schalke at White Hart Lane a week before the season opener.
