Mousa Dembele has signed a new contract with Tottenham which ties him to the club until 2019.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder joined Spurs from Fulham in 2012. He has started 16 Premier League games for the north London club this season, scoring three league goals.

The Belgium international told the club's official website: "I am very happy I've signed and I'm happy to be part of our future.

"The way we're playing, the way the club is developing, everything is very good and everyone wants to be part of this team and this club. That's why I'm proud to extend my contract."

Dembele is currently enjoying his most prolific season at White Hart Lane. Aside from his three league goals, he also scored a crucial late Europa League winner against Anderlecht, which helped his qualify for the tournament's knockout stages.

"I think we're playing very well as a team," he added. "The team is very young and I'm one of the older players now.

"It's nice to play in this team with the new young players. They're doing fantastic. Every year you can see we are getting better and better.

"The vibe is very nice. You want to be in a club where the vibe is good and the future is bright. That's why I'm so happy to have extended.

"If you're happy somewhere then time flies. Of course, that's the biggest thing for me, to feel comfortable."
