Manchester City may have to rely on Shaun Wright-Phillips to overcome Groclin in Poland tonight.
City were held 1-1 in the first leg and, with Claudio Reyna a doubt after missing the defeat at Newcastle with flu, Wright-Phillips is set to return. The 22-year-old was banned for the last three domestic games.
Meanwhile, Eyal Berkovic also picked up a knock at St James' Park and his fitness will be monitored before the tie. The City manager, Kevin Keegan, has also asked Uefa for dispensation to select goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Although not registered for the competition, Schmeichel - son of the Danish legend Peter - is required as cover for David Seaman and Kevin Ellegaard, the squad's only fit keepers.
Seaman sat out training this week and while the former England keeper's participation in tomorrow night's game is not in doubt, Keegan wants to ensure he has cover.
Liverpool will be without Steve Finnan for their tie with Steaua Bucharest. The Anfield club were impressive 3-2 winners in Romania in the first leg and should be able to progress even without the Republic of Ireland defender, who hurt a calf muscle at Middlesbrough on Saturday. The Senegal international Salif Diou is likely to step in as cover.
There is also doubt over Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who picked up an ankle injury in the same match. Dietmar Hamann and Stéphane Henchoz are both fit and available after recovering from injury.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are expected to rest Jonathan Woodgate for their second leg with the Swiss side Basle tonight. Woodgate returned from injury after missing 11 matches in Saturday's 3-0 win over Manchester City. But, with Andy O'Brien available again after illness and suspension for the trip to Wolves, the former Leeds man may sit out the game.
Lee Bowyer completes a six-match European ban, but Nolberto Solano returns to the squad after international duty.
Hearts, who hold a 1-0 lead over tonight's visitors, Bordeaux, will be without their captain Steven Pressley, who has a thigh strain.
