Vincent Tan: I'll keep wearing my gloves and sunglasses - anyone who thinks I shouldn't is nuts

Cardiff City owner is constantly pictured in the stands in his distinctive outfit

Vincent Tan has stated anyone who compares him to a Bond Villain because of his distinctive appearance is "nuts".

The Cardiff City owner is always seen in the stands sporting dark sunglasses, leather gloves, with a replica red Cardiff home shirt on top of whatever clothing he is wearing at the time.

But Tan sees nothing wrong in this outfit, reasoning that the glasses "are because of the glare of spotlight", the gloves because it is "very cold in the UK", and anyone who thinks anything different is "nuts".

"I wear sunglasses because of the glare of the spotlights," the 62-year-old told BBC Sport. "I wear gloves because it is very cold in the UK. Frankly, sometimes I think they are nuts making all these comments."

Also in the interview, Tan said he believes he has the backing of 90 per cent of the Bluebirds supporters, despite replacing manager Malky Mackay and changing the club's colours from blue to red, and says that he is no "villain".

"Do you think that Malky Mackay would have got us promoted without my investment? Without me giving him money? After we got promoted the fans were all very supportive, everybody was appreciative," the Malaysian said.

"And then you have the British press who have has been misled by some people, feeding them wrong information and saying what a terrible person I am and trying to make fun of me and paint me like a villain.

"But my experience is the majority are very supportive. I go to the club, many people come and shake my hand, want to shake hands with me, want my autograph, so generally I think it is not too bad."
