Alan Pardew has signed a two-year-and-a-half year deal at The Hawthorns

West Brom have confirmed Alan Pardew as their new manager.

The former West Ham, Southampton and Newcastle boss has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace in December of last year but is the man tasked with arresting the Baggies' slide. His first game in charge will be against the Eagles on Saturday.

Pardew, who has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal at The Hawthorns, replaces Tony Pulis who was sacked last week after a run of 10 games without a win.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players," Pardew told the club's official website. “The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table. But I’m aware that while I’m joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition.”

Chairman John Williams revealed that the 56-year-old was the club's unanimous choice after an extensive recruitment process.

“Alan brings the experience of more than 300 Premier League games and the kind of dynamic leadership from which our club can benefit,” he added. “We were impressed with what he had to say and what he has to offer and we are looking forward to an exciting new era under his charge.”

Pardew inherits a Baggies side that currently sit 16th in the Premier League after being held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle on Tuesday night.

The hosts were two goals up before Rafa Benitez’s men fought back to share the spoils.

Caretaker manager Gary Megson, who earned two draws in his short spell in charge, has left the club with immediate effect with former Newcastle boss John Carver joining as Pardew's assistant.
