Fraser Forster has compared the latest Celtic goalkeeper kit to the famous purple dinosaur Barney after making his first appearance of the season in the Scottish club’s 1-0 victory over KR Reykjavik in their Champions League second round qualifier.
Forster, who failed to make an appearance at the World Cup having been selected as England’s third choice goalkeeper, kept a clean sheet as he helped give the Scottish champions the advantage in the two-legged tie.
Celtic will host the second leg, but due to the Commonwealth Games taken place at Celtic Park this summer, they will play the encounter against the Icelanders at the home of Scottish rugby, Murrayfield.
After the match, Forster took to Twitter to make light of the all-purple dinosaur who used to entertain/terrify young children in the 1990’s. While Forster may not be as cuddly, we’re sure he’s a big friendly giant at heart – all six foot 7 inches of him.

Forster has been linked with a return to England this summer with a number of Premier League clubs rumoured to be monitoring the 26-year-old stopper.
However, after making his first appearance of the season for the Bhoys, he could remain with the Scottish champions to help them reach the group stage of the Champions League.
