Mourners pay respect to Dundee chairman
Hundreds of mourners gathered today to say farewell to Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson.
Mr Thompson, 67, died last week after a long battle with prostate cancer.
The mourners, many dressed in United colours, began assembling outside St Mary's Episcopal Church in Dundee's Broughty Ferry around an hour before the service began.
Members of the United squad arrived along with their manager, Craig Levein.
Celebrity fan Lorraine Kelly was also present as was Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.
Some of Mr Thompson's favourite songs, including The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, were played before the service.
Tributes poured in after the death of the United chairman and tycoon, who made his fortune with a chain of convenience stores.
He was a well-known figure in the football world who turned around the fortunes of United by ploughing millions of pounds into the side.
His death came just days after his son-in-law, Ken Mitchell, 38, was killed in a motorcycle accident.
