Partick Thistle accepting applications to become club's terrifying mascot Kingsley

Partick Thistle are accepting applications to become ‘Kingsley’, the club’s infamously ugly mascot.

The spiky yellow design, created by Turner Prize-nominated artist David Shrigley, became internationally recognised last year after its unveiling at Firhill Stadium.

Kingsley was described as, among other things, a ‘monobrowed mutant sun god’, while reactions on social media ranged from cautious acceptance to mild terror.

A year on, Partick supporters (or anyone between 5ft8in and 6ft2in, for that matter) now have the opportunity to become Kingsley.

The Glasgow-based Scottish Premiership side are searching for someone to step into the suit of their “dentist-deprived ray of sunshine”.

“We’ve decided to turn to our fans to find our next Kingsley,” said Ian Maxwel, Partick Thistle’s managing director.

“We want to see passion, creative thinking and ideas that are a bit out there, just like the mascot should be.”

In return, the successful applicant will receive a 2016/17 Partick season ticket and the “warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know you have made thousands of people happier.”
